"Letztes Jahr hatten wir mit der Bekanntgabe einer Erweiterung des erfolgreichen Modern Warfare alle Erwartungen der Experten übertroffen.“ erklärte Tippl. "Für 2009 steht fest, dass Modern Warfare zurückkehren wird und wir erwarten, dass es das Spiel des Jahres wird.“
"Es besteht kein Zweifel, dass mit Modern Warfare 2 neue Maßstäbe gesetzt werden und die Latte des Shooter Genre wieder um einiges höher gelegt wird. Das Spiel sieht einfach fantastisch aus und Infinity Ward, dass es entwickelt, macht einen unglaublichen Job."

Activision CFO confirms that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be in stores this holiday.

According to Activision CFO Thomas Tippl (via Kotaku), Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is "looking incredible" and will be in stores for this year's holiday season.
Activision Blizzard's CFO was presenting at the Wedbush Morgan Securities annual meeting when he made the announcement. Tippl said that Activision's strategy for "leap-frogging development" between two developers has been paying out with back-to-back blockbusters.
"Last year we had probably beaten most expert expectations by growing the Call of Duty franchise over the tremendous success that was the first iteration of Modern Warfare," Tippl said. "For 2008, Modern Warfare is coming back, we expect it will be the most anticipated game of the year. Perhaps the number one game of the year despite the fact that it's only going to launch in the holiday season."
He continued, "There is no doubt in my mind that it will again raise the bar for the shooter genre. The game is looking incredible and Infinity Ward, the studio that is developing it, is just doing an unbelievable job."
